BUCHANAN, WI (Tuesday, August 05, 2008) – Steve Carlson followed up his ASAMT win at Hawkeye Downs by collecting his sixth SCAG Power Equipment Dixieland 150 at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, WI. Carlson won by 2.616 seconds over Kyle Calmes in front of over 5,100 fans.

“What a really almost perfect race car, I have to thank this one to my crew,” a happy Carlson stated in victory lane. “I have a well balanced crew. One guy wants to change a lot of things and another won’t let me change anything and it just balances out so well.”

Carlson stated that he never had a car near this perfect before at WIR, “This baby was right on tonight.”

Carlson took the lead from Jonathan Eilen on lap 79 after he made an inside pass from early leader Jonathan Eilen. But, Carlson didn’t have an easy drive as he held off Freedom, WI pilot Calmes who was competing on his home track. But with 25 laps to go, Carlson would pull away from Calmes and take home the win.

Jonathan Eilen took the lead over from Steve Holzhausen on lap 13 to lead at the halfway mark of the SCAG Power Equipment Dixieland 150 at WIR. The first 75 laps ran caution free.

Steve Carlson was closing in on Eilen when the caution flew for the halfway break. Holzhausen is in third with Dan Fredrickson in fourth. Kyle Calmes is in fifth.

Mike Gardner is sixth with Brett Moffitt in seventh. Nathan Haseleu is eighth and Tim Schendel is in ninth. Jamie Iverson rounds out the top-ten.

Kyle Busch got as high as fifth in the early going and has fallen back to 12th.

The biggest news to happen in the first 75-laps is that Donny Reuvers is out of the race. Reuvers retired on lap 43 with rear end problems. Going into tonight, he was only 58-points behind Dan Fredrickson in the championship standings.

The only other car out at the halfway break is Rich Bickle Jr. who went out on lap 50 with handling problems.

The second half will start shortly.

BURLINGTON, WI (Friday, July 25, 2008) – Every sport has a major event while some sports like auto racing has a few major events. The famed Dixieland race at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, WI is one of those major events when it comes to Midwest Super Late Model racing.

The famous event will return for its 27th running of the SCAG Power Equipment Dixieland 150 on Tuesday, August 5th featuring the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment.

First, it’s about tradition. It’s always at the unique “D”-shaped ½ mile oval and it’s always run on the first Tuesday in August, and it always involved a NASCAR star or two or more.

Why Tuesday? That is a simple answer. NASCAR stars were always available to compete in it, no weekly paved tracks ran on Tuesdays, and it didn’t interfere with any other racing activities at WIR.

NASCAR’s Hottest Star Kyle Busch returns to defend his 2007 win.

By: Kevin Ramsell
BURLINGTON, WI (Friday, July 11, 2008) – Since 1982, race fans in the Fox Valley area were accustomed to going to Wisconsin International Raceway on the first Tuesday in August for a big racing event. For the second year in a row, the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment will re-ignite a tradition with the running of the 27th Annual SCAG Power Equipment Dixieland 150 on Tuesday, August 5th at 7:00 p.m.

This year’s event will feature NASCAR Sprint Cup point leader Kyle Busch returning to defend his 2007 win in this event. After making a preseason move to Joe Gibbs racing, Busch has made his presence known in all three of Nascar’s top divisions winning races in all three divisions.

John McKarns and his famous ARTGO Challenge Series wanted to bring a big racing event to Wisconsin International Raceway, located just outside of Kaukauna, WI, featuring a top NASCAR Winston Cup driver. So he created the Dixieland Race.
