NEWTON, IA (Sunday, July 20, 2008) – All weekend long Tim Schendel was fast around the 7/8-mile Iowa Speedway as he was able to back up those fast times in practice and qualifying by taking the Rasmussen Group Twin 75’s in front of an announced attendance of 14,888.
“It’s a relief actually because we knew we were capable of winning,” Schendel stated after the race. “To get this, this is awesome and it’s a relief to get a pole and a win.”
For Schendel this is an emotional win, “It’s starting to yeah,” when asked about the emotions hitting him soon after the race. “Usually it doesn’t happen until the next morning when you wake up. Everybody has put in such long hours, me and Chris (Bires, his crew chief) we worked almost until 3 in the morning probably for two weeks with getting everything ready for this weekend and it paid off. We put a lot of work into it and my dad put a lot of money into it along with all of our sponsors and everybody involved. They all gave 100% and I have to give 110% also.”
