QUALIFYINGHEATS & LCFEATUREPHOTOS

By: Kevin Ramsell
JEFFERSON, WI (Saturday, May 17, 2008) – It has been a tough start to the 2008 season for Jonathan Eilen and it appeared that streak would continue. But, luck would turn around for him as he would capture the Kwik Trip Stores 100 ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment event at Jefferson Speedway in Cambridge, WI.

“Boy we really needed this,” a happy Eilen stated in victory lane. “We had our problems all day with the motor. We actually had the back up car out ready to go and we thought for sure we would have to go to that one, but this car was like a rocket on rails.”

Eilen started on the outside of the front row and got the lead from polesitter Adam Hensel.

QUALIFYING RESULTSHEAT RESULTS

Blake Horstman literally blew away the competition as he not only set a new fast time of 13.729 seconds, but also set a new track record beating Dan Lensing’s record of 13.815 seconds. Matt Kocourek qualified second with a lap time of 13.775 seconds.

“That’s pretty awesome, I never expected it, I’ll tell you that,” Horstman stated. “I thought I was struggling a little in practice. I don’t know, we got lucky and got two good laps.”

Kocourek, one of two rookies competing tonight, was satisfied with his qualifying effort, “That was pretty good, we changed a few things and took a shot at it wasn’t bad,” Kocourek stated. “It’s pretty fast.”

Donny Reuvers was third with a lap time of 13.830 with Dan Fredrickson fourth with a lap time of 13.884. Rich Loch rounded out the top five with a lap time of 13.903 seconds.

Jake Ryan and Travis Sauter advance from the first qualifying heat while Mark Kraus and Bryan Roach advanced from the second heat to the Kwik Trip Stores 100.

Tim Schendel and Frank Kreyer won the odd/even heats. The last chance race is coming up.

3:35PM The final practice session has concluded for the Kwik Trip Stores 100 at Jefferson Speedway. Cars are now in starting to line up for qualifying
tech.

Right now, the Jefferson Speedway Hobby Stock and Bandit divisions are practicing. They will qualify at 4:00 pm with ASAMT ECHO "Blow the Competition Away" Qualifying scheduled to start at 5:00 pm.

Fans are arriving, lying their blankets and chairs on the hill and getting prepared for tonight's racing action that will start at 6:00 pm.

Again, we apologize for not having practice times available as there is no transponder loop at the track.

2:15PM The first of two practice sessions has just ended for the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment's Kwik Trip Stores 100 at Jefferson Speedway.

Unfortunately, the Speedway does not have a transponder system so we are unable to bring you official practice times.

A total 28 cars are on hand to challenge the progressively banked quarter-mile oval.

The second session will start in a few minutes.

Local division qualifying will begin at 4:00 pm with ASAMT "Blowing Away

BURLINGTON, WI (Thursday, May 15, 2008) – The spirit of competition that is shown at every ASAMT event, is nothing close when comparing the competition shown by the athletes competing in Special Olympic events. The ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment along with its title sponsor, Kwik Trip Stores, continues to show their support with this great organization in 2008.

Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI) is a statewide organization providing persons with cognitive disabilities year-round sports training and competition. Individuals who are at least eight years old and are identified as having cognitive disability are eligible for participation.

Burlington, WI (Thursday, February 21, 2008) – ASA Midwest Tour officials along with Kwik Trip Stores, Inc. are proud to announce that Kwik Trip will return as the title sponsor for the 2008 season. For the second year in a row, the full series title name will be the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment.

“This is a very good match for us,” Gary Gonczy, Marketing Director for Kwik Trip Stores, Inc. stated. “The support we got from everyone, especially the drivers and the race teams was phenomenal. They all did a great job of helping to market Kwik Trip to the race fans. We are very happy to be back as the title sponsor.”

Last season, many of the race teams became familiar with Christa Gerloff, Marketing Project Manager of Kwik Trip Stores, Inc. Christa and her support staff were visible at each event by promoting the Kwik Trip name not only to the fans, but also to the race teams as well.
