Labor Day 100 Photos

By: Kevin Ramsell
BURLINGTON, WI (Tuesday, September 02, 2008) – Jamie Iverson made his shortest drive to an American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment event to a winning drive in front of over 4,000 fans and family including his father and driver, the legendary Bob Iverson. While Iverson took the win, second place finisher Dan Fredrickson ended a drought that he needed to end.

LET’S GET TO THE POINTS!

It was a role reversal for Fredrickson and Donny Reuvers at Norway Speedway. In the previous two events at Shakopee and Milwaukee, Fredrickson would experience engine problems causing him to have his worst finishes of the year allowing Reuvers to get within five points of him in the standings.

This past Sunday night, Reuvers was involved in 11-car crash in turn one on lap 11, which gave a 22nd place finish while Fredrickson would battle for the lead all night with Iverson and would come home second. Fredrickson now has a 58-point lead over Reuvers with two events remaining in the 2008 season.

NORWAY, MI (Sunday, August 31, 2008) – Jamie Iverson delighted the packed grandstand at Norway Speedway as he held off Dan Fredrickson to win his second American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment event by claiming the Labor Day 100. Fredrickson also extended his point lead with a second place finish.

It was a classic short track battle as Fredrickson and Iverson brought the field to the green flag for the 100-lap feature event. The two stayed stuck to each other all night long as they battled for the lead throughout the event. Fredrickson, who has had two bad outings in the last two ASAMT events, was trying to get back in victory lane and gain some points on Donny Reuvers, who was only five points behind Fredrickson coming into tonight’s event.

BURLINGTON, WI (Wednesday, August 27, 2008) – In 13 of the 14 events on the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment schedule, both Jamie Iverson and Kris Kelly, along with their crew and families, make the long haul from the upper peninsula of Michigan to compete at events in Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois . This Sunday, both will enjoy a rare short drive to Norway Speedway, an ASA Member Track, for the Labor Day 100 event.

“Actually, Milwaukee kind of feels short at four hours so Norway will be a nice 45 minute drive,” Iverson stated when he competed at the Milwaukee Mile this past Sunday.

The Escanaba, MI driver currently sixth in the 2008 with one top-five and six top-ten finishes. He is also the defending champion of the Labor Day 100.

“It should be interesting, I think all of the tour regulars will have a better idea of what to expect up there and I think it will be a little tougher,” Iverson stated when asked about defending his 2007 win. “I haven’t been up there much this year so it will be a different experience for me too. I think we should run pretty well and I just expect the tour regulars to do a little better too.”

With that said, Iverson does hope to return to victory lane at Norway on Sunday, “It would be great to win it. Hopefully we could get a good crowd and a good showing of cars and have a good time.”

Kelly, a resident of Norway, MI, is happy to have a short drive this weekend, “It’s only about three minutes from my house,” Kelly stated with a smile. “We don’t have to worry about leaving six hours in advance, so it will be nice on me and the guys to head down Main St. and right out of town to the track.”

Friday, June 22, 2007 (Norway, MI) - The largest crowd in Norway Speedway history watched local hero and ASA Midwest Touring Star Jamie Iverson take home the victory in the Norway 100 over a hard charging Donny Reuvers.

With people overflowing into the aisles and packing the pits, it was standing room only as the Kwik Trip ASA Midwest Tour invaded Norway Speedway. The swelling grandstand gave the command to fire up the engines; the field of 26 came to life with Steve Carlson and Fran Prestay leading the field to the green flag. Prestay grabbed the early advantage with Carlson tucked right behind him in second.

The first caution flew on lap 6, when point leader Kenny Richards’ day went sour as the recent ASAMT Dells winner’s engine blew going down the backstretch.

As the green flew again, local favorites Jamie Iverson and Kris Kelly diced their way threw the field as they moved into 3rd and 4th.

With Iverson’s big red machine in Carlson’s mirror, Carlson decided it was time to jump past Prestay to take the lead.
