BURLINGTON, WI (Thursday, May 08, 2008) – The ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment would not be successful without the help of our marketing partners and sponsors. Last Saturday’s Kwik Trip Stores 100 had a great field of competitors with a majority taking home contingency bonuses.

In order to receive the awards, the driver must be a full ASA member and their teams must satisfy all manufacturers’ requirements (decals, patches and post race interview criteria.) The awards listed for each driver is on top of the event purse payout they received.

Kwik Trip Stores 100 Contingency Awards:

Jonathan Eilen, 1st Place: AVCOMM, $100; Penske Racing, $100; Schaeffer’s Oil, one case of oil; Tilton, $125; Tex Racing, $100, ASAMT Touring Star Bonus: $400.

Jamie Iverson, 2nd Place: Hawk, $100; Penske, $100; Schaeffer’s Diesel Treat, 12 pints; Touring Star Bonus: $350.

Andrew Morrissey, 3rd Place: PF Friction, $100; Quarter Master $100; Touring Star Bonus, $325.

Dan Fredrickson, 4th Place: Hypercoils, One-Spring; Powertrain Tech, $150; Touring Star Bonus, $300.

BURLINGTON, WI (Monday, May 19, 2008) - The third event of the 2008 ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment season, the Kwik Trip Stores 100, is now in the record books. Jonathan Eilen became the second driver to capture more than one ASAMT win as he now joins Dan Fredrickson on the list. Eilen’s last win came at the ASAMT Inaugural event at Elko Speedway in April, 2007.

HORSTMAN SETS A NEW MARK AT JEFFERSON

Blake Horstman was still surprised as he accepted his first ECHO Power Blower for setting the fast time at Jefferson Speedway. Horstman didn’t think he would be that fast.

But he, along with Matt Kocourek, both qualified under the old track record set by Dan Lensing last year. Lensing set a fast time of 13.815 seconds (65.146 mph). Horstman ripped off a lap of 13.729 seconds (65.554 mph). Kocourek’s lap time was 13.775 seconds (65.335 mph).

The difference from the fast qualifier, Horstman, to the slowest qualifier, Russ Blakeley’s 14.491 seconds (62.107 mph), was 0.762 seconds.

JEFFERSON, WI (Saturday, May 17, 2008) – It has been a tough start to the 2008 season for Jonathan Eilen and it appeared that streak would continue. But, luck would turn around for him as he would capture the Kwik Trip Stores 100 ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment event at Jefferson Speedway in Cambridge, WI.

“Boy we really needed this,” a happy Eilen stated in victory lane. “We had our problems all day with the motor. We actually had the back up car out ready to go and we thought for sure we would have to go to that one, but this car was like a rocket on rails.”

Eilen started on the outside of the front row and got the lead from polesitter Adam Hensel.

Right now, the Jefferson Speedway Hobby Stock and Bandit divisions are practicing. They will qualify at 4:00 pm with ASAMT ECHO "Blow the Competition Away" Qualifying scheduled to start at 5:00 pm.

BURLINGTON, WI (Friday, May 16, 2008) – No matter if you are traveling east or west on Hwy 18 between Jefferson and Cambridge, you will see it. And if you travel on that road on a Saturday night during the summer, the darkness is illuminated by the lights and a full parking lot. It’s Jefferson Speedway, a quiet success in American short track racing.

This Saturday night, the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment will make their second visit to the 56 year old facility with the running of the Kwik Trip Stores 100. For many fans and competitors, including this writer, it’s a return to the track where our love of racing started.

For me, it was the summer of 1982 when friends of my parents invited us out for a night of racing at the quarter-mile facility. I remember going through the gate and walking up the hill to find a seat between turns one and two.

The hill is just one of the unique characteristics of the facility. From there a fan has a perfect view of the entire racetrack with no obstructions. It’s on the hill, where many fans can say they, “go and drink a beverage and act smart.”
