BURLINGTON, WI (Friday, April 25, 2008) – The Lane Automotive ASAMT Rookie of the Year presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil and Hyperco is off and running after the Kwik Trip 125 event at Elko Speedway. Six drivers have taken the green flag towards a Rookie of the Year title with a potential $10,000 in awards to be handed out at the end of the season.

The first event of the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment showed how tough the competition can be as some of its Touring Stars failed to make the feature event. But, four of the six rookies in attendance were able to make the feature field just by qualifying in the top 16.

Matt Kocourek was the fastest of the rookies as he qualified tenth. He would struggle with a tight race car throughout the 125-lap event. The only time the car got loose enough for him was on lap 45 when he spun in turns one and two to bring out the second of two cautions in the event. He would finish 20th.

Billy Mohn would qualify 12th and had his night end early as he was involved in the event’s only accident on lap 23. He would finish 25th.

BURLINGTON, WI (Thursday, April 24, 2008) – The ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment would not be successful without the help of our marketing partners and sponsors. 26 of the 47 drivers who competed last weekend at the Kwik Trip 125 will also be receiving contingency bonuses from the event.

Sparta, WI (4-20-08)—Iron Eagle Racing and driver Tim Schendel traveled to Elko, MN Saturday, April 19th for the Kwik Trip 125. This was Schendel’s first start for the 2008 ASA Midwest Tour season.

With 47 cars all contending for a spot in the race, things were sure to be competitive. That’s something that Tim Schendel thrives on! Iron Eagle Racing fired up their engine for the season opener and had the solid finish they were looking for.

Overall everything went really well for Tim Schendel and the team. “Everything really came together for us. We were real happy with the way the new car handled,” stated Schendel. “There is always a little uncertainty with a brand new car, but the car really seemed to like the set up we put in it.” Tim and the #21 TexPar Energy Chevrolet led by crew chief Chris Bires qualified 8th and due to the invert, Schendel ending up starting in the third row outside for the main event.

ELKO, MN (Saturday, April 19, 2008) – A great crowd was on hand to witness Jake Ryan lead a trio of hometown drivers to capture the Kwik Trip 125 at Elko Speedway in Elko, MN. It was Ryan’s first win in the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment.

“We were chasing the car all day, and I thought we were just going to be a second place car, but we kept chasing the set up and made some big changes at the break and that got us to the win,” an exhausted Ryan stated in victory lane.

Ryan and Dan Fredrickson appeared to be repeating the great battle they both displayed at Elko two weeks ago where Fredrickson came home with the win. “We had a good run, we worked all day on making the car better,” Fredrickson stated. “Jake just got out ahead of me and ran away, still had a good time.”

25 cars came to take the green flag for the 20-lap last chance race. As the field came to the green, Kris Kelly, who started on the outside of the front row, got loose coming off of four and spun in front of the field collecting Rich Loch. Doug Mahlik became involved when he found himself underneath Loch’s car. Steve Schultz and Tim Hintz were also involved. Kelly, Loch, Mahlik and Hintz didn’t return.

At the halfway mark, Jamie Iverson held on to the lead with Bryan Roach in second. Caution flew when Brandon Hill and Jamie Farrell got together on the front stretch causing Hill to spin. Iverson continues to lead at the re-start.

Caution flew with four laps to go when Frank Kreyer and Dave Feiler got together in turns one and two. Both sent to the rear.

At the checkers, it was Iverson and Roach earning the two final spots for the main event. Eugene Gregorich was third, Adam Hensel was fourth with Rick Burns rounding out the top five.

Burns earns the Elko provisional for the main event.
