Haseleu prepares to return and defend his 2007 win

BURLINGTON, WI (Monday, May 12, 2008) – Jefferson Speedway, well known as Wisconsin’s Action Track, will host the third event of the 2008 season for the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment. The Kwik Trip Stores 100 will highlight the evening’s race activities.

Last year, Nathan Haseleu, the defending ASAMT champion, picked up his only win so far in the series 13 events. Haseleu, who started his racing career at Jefferson, is looking forward to returning and defending his win. “I always enjoyed racing there; it’s a small track for super late models to race on,” Haseleu stated. “It’s a little bullring and I think it was repaved a few years ago, so it has good traction. I love going there, it brings back a lot of memories and I look forward to it.”

BURLINGTON, WI (Friday, April 11, 2008) – It was a banner year in 2007 for Nathan Haseleu as he became the first ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment Champion. He is looking forward to defending his championship with stronger competition in 2008.

“It’s not going to be easier, it was tough to start with,” Haseleu recently stated. “It is going to be interesting to see what happens with the additional quality drivers we are going to have this year. I have to say with the quality of cars and drivers competing in the ASA Midwest Tour this season; this has to be one of the best series going in the country right now.”

“I am real excited about this season,” Haseleu stated when asked about the upcoming ASAMT season. “I think the schedule is great. We are going to some real competitive tracks and going to some new ones like Iowa Speedway and The Milwaukee Mile. It says a lot about our series when we get the opportunity race at tracks like those two.”

Friday, December 14, 2007 (Daytona Beach, FL) – With the completion of the 2007 racing season, many media outlets share their post season thoughts. Some do this by creating their own recognition program. Kyle Ealy, editor of Hawkeye Racing News, did this in his recent column by handing out his own end of the year race awards.

Ealy awards are simply his opinion and are based on what he personally witnessed this past season as he visited many asphalt and dirt tracks in the Midwest.

In his column, Ealy recognized the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment as the “Racing Series of the Year!!!”

In his recognition he stated, “What an impressive beginning by a series that’ll only get stronger with time.”

Ealy also recognized 2007 ASAMT champion Nate Haseleu as the “Late Model Driver of the Year” for winning both the ASAMT and Wisconsin Challenge Series championships.

After last Sunday’s Oktoberfest 100 at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway, Nate Haseleu, stood by his car realizing that he just became the first ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment champion. A season where he collected one win, six top-five’s, and seven top-ten finishes.

Prior to the start of the 100-lap finale, Haseleu was honest about his emotions, “Nervous, just hope to make it through clean and get a good finish out of it and win the championship. That is our goal today,” a placid Haseleu stated. “I am not really worried about racing anybody to hard, but just get a good finish. But the problem is there are so many good guys, that you are going to have race hard just to get a 15th place finish.”

Haseleu went into the main event of the four-day race weekend with a 49-point lead over Dundas, MN hot shoe, Donny Reuvers.

Coming into the event, Haseleu had a 47-point lead over Reuvers. But Reuvers was able to gain four points by out qualifying Haseleu. Reuvers was fifth quick in time while Haseleu was seventh.

(West Salem, WI) – Following the July 20th Echo Chain Saw/Five Star Race Car Bodies No Bull 100 at Madison International Speedway, Nate Haseleu saw himself sitting 31 points behind point leader Donny Reuvers. But, two events later Haseleu found himself ahead of Reuvers by 47 points heading into the season finale at the Oktoberfest Race Weekend on Oktober 4-7 at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway.

Haseleu went into the next event, Factory Motor Parts 150 at Wisconsin International Raceway, and took home a third place finish where Reuvers was ninth. Five days later, at Shakopee’s (MN) Raceway Park, he would come home with a fifth place finish while Reuvers developed engine problems and finished 22nd.

“It was a real good week for us,” Haseleu recently stated. “We have been gaining on Reuvers and (Dave) Feiler over the second half of the season. We had some good runs and the competition level is so tight that you never know what is going to happen, but it turned out to be a good week for us.”

Friday August 10, 2007, (Daytona Beach, FL) -- Parity has been abundant in the inaugural season of the Kwik Trip ASA Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment. Through ten events (nine of which were points events) the tour has seen nine different winners. That list includes drivers defending their territory like Jamie Iverson of Escanaba, MI with his win at Norway, MI, a first time winner in Brandon Hill who won at Madison and even a win by NASCAR Nextel Cup Star Kyle Busch at Wisconsin International Raceway.
Such an even playing field has led to an incredible chase atop the tour’s point standings. Marshall WI’s Nathan Haseleu currently leads Dundas MN’s Donny Reuvers by only fourteen tallies. Lurking back in third is Dave Feiler of Sun Prarie, WI only 35 points behind Haseleu.
