From the Chris Wimmer Pits.. Wimmer and ASAMT Return to Track Series First Trip to Illiana Motor Speedway

Wausau, WI June 16th, 2009 – After three weeks off, Chris Wimmer and the ASA Midwest Tour get set to return to the track. For the first time in Series’ history, the ASAMT heads to Illiana Motor Speedway and this marks Wimmer’s first trip in over eight years. “I raced there a long time ago, I think in 2000,” says Wimmer, “I honestly don’t remember it much. From what I’ve heard it’s a pretty flat track and some people have compared it to Marshfield.”

After a mechanical problem at Wisconsin Dells in the last ASAMT race, Wimmer hopes to get back on track this weekend and bring home his 3rd top-ten finish of the season. “Dells was definitely disappointing,” says Wimmer, “But as they say, that’s racing. It was nice to have a little extra time to get everything fixed, but I’m excited for Illiana this weekend and to get back to racing.”

With four ASA Midwest Tour events in the books, Wimmer currently sits in a three way tie for third place in the overall point standings and just 67 points out of the lead. “The point standings are so close,” says Wimmer, “And they were last year too. You really need to make sure you’re on your game in this series, but it also speaks volumes of the talent on the Tour this year.”

Wimmer Racing continues to search for primary sponsorship for this year, but would like to thank our associate sponsors. FlipSide Graphics returns to the #52 car this year as an associate sponsor. They have always supported the Wimmer Racing program and it is greatly appreciate. Hallman-Lindsay, Swift Spring, R2C Performance Products, 51sports, AutoMeter, OPTIMA Battery, Vanderkoy Bro’s Drywall, Joe Kleiber Construction, Pergolski Elecrtic , and Wimmer Suspension have also all jumped on board to help in a sponsorship role. Without their support it would be difficult to make it to the track every weekend.

Practice for the Elmer Musgrave 100 begins Saturday at 1:45pm and qualifying set to begin at 5pm. For more information on Chris Wimmer of Wimmer Racing or to get involved in sponsorship, please contact Jana Jurkovich at (612) 819-4564.
