From the Dan Fredrickson Pits... Fredrickson Signs On for Thunderstruck 93 A race Worth Winning, Especially to Fredrickson

June 1st 2009, Lakeville, MN –Dan Fredrickson adds to his 2009 racing schedule and announces plans to race
in the first ever Thunderstruck 93, Saturday, June 27that Elko Speedway. While Fredrickson has raced
countless times at Elko and other tracks across the Midwest, no race has been as close to his heart as this
one. In memory of the late Dan Ryan, who died in early January from ALS, the Thunderstruck 93 is more than
just another race to Fredrickson and so many other drivers. “It’s definitely a race that is very special to me,”
says Fredrickson, “The Ryan’s have always been great friends to me and my family. I knew Dan for a long
time, and his son Jake, and really the whole family. This is one race I’m really going to focus on and I know
other guys will too. There’s going to be some great drivers and we’ll put on a great show for the fans, we
want to be sure it’s a race Dan would be proud of.”
Fredrickson, who currently sits 2ndin ASA Midwest Tour points, is a guy who know his way to victory lane; he
took the checkered flag four times in the ASAMT last year on his way to the Series’ Championship. While
those trophies have been nice for Fredrickson, he says nothing would mean more to him than to win the first
ever Dan Ryan Memorial Race. “We knew because of ALS his time was limited,” says Fredrickson, “And when
he died one thing I thought was I want to win that first Dan Ryan Memorial Race. I know a bunch of the guys
around here are going to want to win it too, but if I win just one race all year, I want it to be this one.”
The Thunderstruck 93 will also do more than showcase some of the best drivers in the Midwest, but will also
help raise money for people with ALS, ‘A Race Worth Winning’. “The fact that they are also doing some
fundraising for ALS is great,” says Fredrickson, “I know the money people raise in this area goes to help local
people who suffer from ALS. It’s a tough disease and it’s very expensive to live comfortably in those final
years, I saw that with Dan, so I think it is so great that the money goes to local people to help cut expenses
and live more comfortably.”
For any other drivers hoping to race in the Thunderstruck 93, Tom Ryan, promotional directory at Elko
Speedway and also brother of the late Dan Ryan, is offering two free race tires to the first 30 entrants. All
those first 30 entrants must do is make a $100 donation to ALS. There will also be other fundraising activi-
ties for ALS, June 27that the track. “I know Tom is doing a great job of getting cars and some top drivers,”
said Fredrickson, “There’s also a bunch of drivers who are going to come out just because it’s the Dan Ryan
Memorial. Drivers who may not even have a late model are looking for cars to come out and run this race,
that’s how special Dan was to this racing community.”
Qualifying gets underway at 6pm with racing set to start at 7pm. You can purchase tickets online at
