JONATHAN EILEN TO COMPETE IN THIS SATURDAY’S ARCA EVENT AT KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY

2007 ASAMT Rookie of the Year teams up with 2008 ARCA Champion Crew Chief

By: Kevin Ramsell
BURLINGTON, WI (Wednesday, May 06, 2009) – Jonathan Eilen won’t get this weekend off like most of the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment teams, instead he will make his ARCA Re/Max Series debut this Saturday night as he will compete in the Buckle Up Kentucky 150 at Kentucky Speedway.

“I will be racing for Capital City Motorsports with Larry Moore, Justin Allgaier’s crew chief from last year who won the ARCA championship,” the Hampton, MN driver recently stated. “I will be driving the #38 Quaker Steak & Lube/Eilen Trucking Dodge.”

Last week, he had the opportunity to go to Kentucky Speedway to test along with 25 other ARCA teams. “It went pretty good, the motor we had in the car was worn out pretty good, it had like three races in it, but it went really good,” Eilen stated. “They were really happy; I think they said I was about a half a second faster than they have ever been there, so the team was really happy. There was about 10 to 12 Cup affiliated teams there, and I think we ended up around 11th or 12th out of the 25 teams there.”

He was also impressed with the 1.5-mile facility, “I think they said at the end of the straightaway we were going around 210 mph. There wasn’t a whole lot of room to lift either. It was a good experience and I am looking forward to doing the race there this Saturday night.”

This will be the first of hopefully four events for Eilen in the ARCA Re/Max Series this season. He stated that there are plans for him to compete at Michigan, Iowa and Kansas later in the year. His primary focus will be the ASAMT as these events do not conflict with the ASAMT schedule.

The 23-year-old driver has competed in every ASAMT event since its inception in 2007. In fact he was the winner of the first event at Elko Speedway. In his ASAMT career, he has two wins, eight top-five’s and 13 top-ten finishes in 26 starts.

“Jonathan is a very talented driver and has a great personality, he and his team represents the ASA Midwest Tour very well,” Tim Olson, ASAMT President stated. “We wish him the best of luck this Saturday night and we will see him at Iowa Speedway with the ASAMT on Saturday, May 16th.”
