BURLINGTON, WI (Wednesday, July 16, 2008) – The ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment teams and officials are gearing up for the first stop on its “Western Swing” with this Friday’s running of the 36th Annual Keith Fleck Miller 100 at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, IA. This event is the re-scheduled date from June 13th after the postponement due to flooding in the area.
The greater Cedar Rapids area is still cleaning up after last month’s damage that Mother Nature brought to the area. The Keith Fleck Miller 100 has always been an event to help out local charities by donating over $265,000 in its event history.
“With the fact that is has always been a race for charity, we really couldn’t think of not doing something for the flood victims in the area,” Dudley Fleck, Event Promoter stated. “This Friday night, we will be donating $3.00 per ticket to flood relief and we will be raffling off a car courtesy of McGrath Auto Sales for flood relief. Tickets are available at all of the previous locations for $3 off including: Checker’s, Hawkeye Downs, and Fleck Sales Company.”
Fleck is not the only one that has stepped up in the area, “Fortunately, there have been many people and businesses that have stepped up and provided funds and other relief, which says a lot about the people of Cedar Rapids.”
“We are looking forward to visiting Hawkeye Downs this Friday night and it’s our goal to put on a great show for the people in the Cedar Rapids area,” Steve Einhaus, ASAMT VP stated. “We realize that for many these have been trying times and hopefully we can come in and boost their spirits by having an exciting and competitive race. It’s a win-win for everyone. They get to see the best Super Late Model drivers in the Midwest compete on their home track and they are also helping the flood victims in the area.”
Qualifying for the Keith Fleck Miller 100 will begin at 4:45 pm with the popular autograph session starting at 5:45 pm. Opening Ceremonies will get underway at 6:45 pm with the first race at 7:00 pm.
After the event, the ASAMT teams will then head west to Newton, IA for the running of Rasmussen Group Twin 75’s (150-lap feature) at Iowa Speedway on Sunday, July 20th.
