6:30PM Qualifying Results
Chris Wimmer will be picking up an ECHO Weed Trimmer as he was the fastest qualifier for today’s ECHO Bear Cat July Spectacular 100 at I-94 Raceway. This is the seventh event of the 2008 ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment.
Wimmer set a fast time, and new ASAMT track record of 16.76 seconds. “It feels really good, we been working on the car over the last week or so and it keeps better and better,” a smiling Wimmer stated after qualifying. “It feels real good to get a pole.”
Last week, Wimmer won his first feature of the year by winning the Flip Merwin Memorial at State Park Speedway in Wausau, WI. “We have just been gaining every week and been lucky we haven’t torn anything up,” Wimmer stated. “We have been working on the car, trying different stuff. It was nice to get the win; Flip was a good friend of mine.”
Wimmer is hoping for a low roll for the invert tonight, “It’s going to be tough, the tires go away pretty quickly and it’s really tough to pass. The closest we can start up front the better we will be.”
Defending event winner Jacob Goede was second with a time of 16.83 seconds with Donny Reuvers in third with a time of 16.84 seconds. Jonathan Eilen was fourth at 16.88 seconds while Dan Fredrickson rounded out the top five with a time of 16.89 seconds.
During pre-race ceremonies, Wimmer rolled a six. The top 14 in qualifying will be inverted for the main event. This will have Jon Olson and Adam Hensel on the front row for the main event.
