MORRIS, IL (Sunday, June 22, 2008) – Donny Reuvers ended a long drought in the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment with his win at Dells Raceway Park. Tonight, he showed that he is the real deal as he won his second ASAMT event in a row by capturing the ECHO Power Blower 100 presented by ProSource Motorsports and Hype Energy Drink at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, IL.

Reuvers started sixth in the main event that had 11 drivers qualify under the track record set by Dan Fredrickson last year.

It was Jeff Storm pacing the field in the early going of the 100 lap event with Russ Blakeley having a strong run behind him.

But it was Reuvers who patiently was working his way through the field with Grundy regular and recent weekly feature winner Brett Sontag right behind him. As Storm led the field to the halfway mark, Reuvers caught the veteran driver and made his move to the lead. The two raced side-by-side as they came past the start/finish line at the halfway mark. A lap later, Reuvers would clear Storm and take the lead.

Sontag would follow Reuvers on the inside and take over second.

Reuvers would continue to lead over Sontag by a car length until lap 78 when Sontag would make a rare move to the outside and challenge for the lead.

“Boy, I said to myself that I would have a lot of explaining to do if someone passed me for the lead on the outside here,” Reuvers said after the race.

The two battled side-by-side for the next three laps with Sontag leading laps 78-79. But, Reuvers would take advantage of the preferred inside line and take back the top spot on lap 80.

The second of only two cautions in the race flew on lap 83 when Brian Roach spun in turn four. During the caution, ASAMT track announcer Matt Panure spoke to Sontag on the radio and Sontag stated that he may have used up his tires and may not have anything for Reuvers.

Sontag was not joking as it showed on lap 87 when current ASAMT point leader Dan Fredrickson got by Sontag for second.

Fredrickson would not be able to catch Reuvers in the closing laps as it was Reuvers taking Tom White’s checkered flag for the second time.

“It’s awesome, I just wish my wife and kids were here,” Reuvers stated in victory lane. “We will be making a lot of calls on the way home.”

Fredrickson was pleased with a good point night, “It’s good for Donny, its good to see another Minnesota guy to win,” Fredrickson stated. “It was a good point’s night, but I could sure use a trophy, it’s been a couple of races.”

Sontag was pleased with his run, “I am happy with third, both Donny and Danny ran me so clean, it was a fun race all around.”

Travis Sauter picked up another top-five finish by placing fourth and Steve Carlson was fifth after starting 15th.

Nathan Haseleu started 16th and came home sixth with Tim Schendel in seventh. Jamie Iverson was eighth while Storm finished ninth after leading the first half. Chris Wimmer rounded out the top ten.

Rick Dawson made a late pass by Mike Zeckly to win the 30-lap Street Stock feature. Chad Bayuk got past Zeckly for second on the last corner of the race to take second. Karl Kwaz was fourth with Ben Hoffman in fifth.

Kyle Lindemuth took home the Pure Stock feature win. Jimmy Ellison was second with Shelby Elpin in third. Tevor Pertell was fourth with Brian Struck rounding out the top five.

Craig Haack made the trip from Lewisburg, TN to win the 20-lap Legend feature.

The next event for the ASAMT will be on Saturday, July 5th for the running of the July Spectacular 100 at I-94 Raceway in Sauk Centre, MN.
