WISCONSIN DELLS, WI (Sunday, June 01, 2008) – Donny Reuvers has always been a patient driver behind the wheel of his Toyota Camry. Today, that patience paid off as he collects his first ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment win by taking the Miller Lite 100 presented by Arby’s at Dells Raceway Park in Wisconsin Dells, WI.

“Oh, it’s awesome! It’s something we have been working on for a year and a half,” a happy Reuvers stated in victory lane. “It’s awesome to do it here at the Dells with its rich heritage and with all of the guys here racing today and the competition level, it’s just incredible.”

Reuvers would lead every lap of the 100-lap affair that only saw two caution flags and took only 33 minutes to complete.

But, it wasn’t an easy drive for Reuvers as he held off challenges from Kenny Richards in the early going and Steve Carlson in the final stages.

The final caution flew with six laps to go when Jeff Storm spun in turns one and two. On the re-start, Carlson was all over the back bumper of Reuvers looking for a way to get around him.

With three laps to go, Reuvers would get a push coming off of turn four allowing Carlson to challenge on the inside. “I didn’t get my tires cleaned off too good enough or something,” Reuvers stated. “But I knew I had to stay on the bottom and protect that line. Steve is a good racer and I wasn’t worried about him doing anything that he shouldn’t be doing.”

Reuvers and Carlson would make contact going down the front stretch that got the fans on its feet, but Reuvers was able to hold off Carlson going into turn one.

“He kind of pushed up there coming out of four a little bit and I stuck my nose under there, but he turned left and he was getting so sideways that if I kept pushing he would have probably spun and we both would have to go to the rear, so I just backed out of it and let him go,” Carlson stated afterwards.

Reuvers would pull away by a car length and take his first ASAMT checkered flag.

“It was crazy, you know you just got to do everything you can to protect the bottom so that is what we did,” Reuvers stated.

For Carlson, this was good remedy for what was a bad weekend for him, “Yeah, we tore a car up pretty bad at La Crosse last night,” Carlson stated. “But it’s pretty cool to have my weekend end like this.”

Andrew Morrissey, fresh off a feature win at DRP last Saturday night, came home with his second straight third place finish.

“It started out real good, the car was good and as we kept going it kept getting looser and looser that it got so loose going in the corners in the last 25 laps that I was just hanging on,” Morrissey stated. “We would have liked to come here and win but we will take a third, can’t complain.”

Travis Sauter came home with a fourth place finish while his uncle Johnny Sauter was fifth.

Defending race winner Kenny Richards was sixth with current ASAMT point leader Dan Fredrickson in seventh. Chris Wimmer came home eighth while Jamie Iverson, who started 21st, finished ninth. Kenny Reiser rounded out the top ten.

Earlier in the day, Fredrickson set a new ASAMT track record with a lap time 13.234 seconds, beating the old record set last year by Travis Sauter who had a time of 13.387 seconds.

The next event for the ASAMT will be on Friday, June 13th at Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids, IA for the running of the Keith Fleck Miller 100. Steve Carlson is the defending race winner and is the current point’s leader at Hawkeye Downs.

Qualifying starts at 4:45 pm with racing getting underway at 7:00 pm.
