BURLINGTON, WI (Tuesday, May 13, 2008) – The ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment is proud to introduce a new feature that is now available on its website. Starting today, ASAMT fans, teams, and sponsors can now watch a short video highlighting the most recent ASAMT event online thanks to Bill Holland.
Holland’s first highlight video featuring the May 4th ECHO Chainsaw 100 at Madison International Speedway, can now be viewed with the help of YouTube at http://youtube.asamidwesttour.com.
Holland, an independent reporter, is well known in Central Wisconsin for his “In the Groove” racing segments that appears on Wausau and Green Bay televisions stations, and is believed to be one of the longest lasting television racing segments as it has been on the air since 1995.
Holland got his start as a news anchor and reporter from 1993-98. Since 1998, he has been working independently as a reporter, focusing on auto racing. “I have always been a race fan going back to the early to mid 1960’s,” Holland stated. “I got the bug for this stuff early on in my life. The racetrack is where I want to go as a fan.”
With his Beta cam camera and recorder, along with the help of VideoHead Productions in Birnamwood, WI, Holland has embarked on a new endeavor for this season. That is producing a short 7-8 minute highlight video after each ASAMT race event for the Tour’s website.
“I see this as an opportunity to do a television style reporting in a forum that I think fits with what this tour has developed,” Holland said. “It’s just a good fit. There is more flexibility; these stories can run longer to where I can include more stories and people in it. It’s another piece of making the ASAMT work. It helps generate more of a buzz for the series.”
“It’s an opportunity for me to cover racers that I have known for years and meet new people from other areas,” Holland continued to explain. “They have been very helpful, and very cordial. I think the shows have been a lot of fun to watch. The caliber of competition, wow what can I say, other than if the driver isn’t on their game, they don’t make the show. It’s bringing the named drivers in the Midwest to the shows. The casual fan is seeing drivers that are ahead of the pack.”
“I think this is another positive step for us as we do everything we can to gain notoriety for the series, its drivers, and most importantly our sponsors,” Steve Einhaus, ASAMT VP stated. “Bill Holland does a great job of producing our shows for us and he is very dedicated to the series. We hope that everyone enjoys what we have put together for each event.”
With this new feature, it falls right in line with the ASAMT marketing objective, “Part of our objective on the marketing end is to direct web traffic to our site and its working because our numbers are astonishing,” Einhaus stated. “This allows our supporters to gain recognition for their companies and it builds awareness for the race fans across the country.”
“The ASA Midwest Tour continues to be a leader in the motorsports industry. The new video recap of each series event is just another example of why the series continues to be an integral part of the marketing program for ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment,” stated Jerry Kobza, Marketing Manager for Golden Eagle Distributing. “The professional presentation brings the power and excitement of each event to the many fans that can not travel to all of the events, and highlights the series sponsors as a true partner.”
For Holland, you can sense the passion he has for doing this, “I believe in the weekly racer and I believe what these drivers are doing is worth covering,” Holland explained. “The response I have received so far from so many people has been very positive.”
The next event for the ASAMT is this Saturday, May 17th at Jefferson Speedway, located off of Hwy 18 between Cambridge and Jefferson, WI with the running of the Kwik Trip Stores 100. ASAMT Qualifying gets underway at 5:00 pm with racing at 6:30 pm.
