ASAMT JOINS CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION AT DICKINSON COUNTY FAIR

100 YEARS COMMEMORATED THIS WEEKEND AT NORWAY, MI

By Kari Shear-Carlson
September 3, 2010, The American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and grandstay.net drivers and teams are getting ready to load up and head to Norway, MI for Sunday’s “Labor Day 125.” This is the final night of the 2010 racing season at Norway Speedway and local division championships will be decided on Sunday night.

Twenty-nine drivers have officially entered the 125-lap ASA Midwest Tour event, including local stars, Mike Reichenberger, Scott and Brian Stanchina, Tom Lindquist, and Kris Kelly, amongst others. The ASAMT event is not the only thing going on this weekend at the fairgrounds. This year is the Centennial Celebration of the Dickinson County Fair. For the past 100 years, the fair has been providing entertainment for people of all ages.

This is the perfect weekend to head out to the fair with family and friends and catch some exciting ASA Midwest Tour racing action. Saturday is Agricultural Day at the fair with a variety of contests, as well as a magic show on the Midway. You also will not want to miss Rich Eddy’s Rockin’ Oldies Band and the Free Country Music Concert. Before heading over to the track on Sunday, check out the Spring Lake Animal Shelter Fun Dog Show and all of the other great entertainment, and of course, all of the great tasting fair food.

ASA Midwest Tour cars will hit the track at 12:45PM for their first practice session. Qualifying begins at 4:00PM, with an autograph session at 5:00PM followed by racing at 6:00PM. Do not forget the 50/50 drawing taking place during the event. Last year Jamie Iverson not only won the ASAMT event, but ran across the track during the competition caution to claim his 50/50 prize. Iverson collected $1,340 that was donated to a pit crew member who had recently had back surgery. This year could be your year, so be sure to buy your raffle tickets as well. We hope to see you at Norway Speedway this Sunday night.
