Thursday, September 06, 2007 (West Salem, WI) – You may have heard about it, may have experienced it in the past, or are a regular participant; no matter what, this year’s Oktoberfest Race Weekend promises to be one to remember. The 38th Annual event will take place on Oktober 4-7th at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, WI.
This year’s four day racing event is packed with a huge event every day. This is one weekend where you should plan on being there for all three nights (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) and Sunday afternoon.
It kicks off on Thursday, Oktober 4th with the racing action starting at 6:00 pm. The highlight of the evening will be a 40-lap feature event for the Big 8 Series. It will also be the Big 8 Series championship night as they will crown their third series champion.
Also competing on Thursday night will be the La Crosse Sportsmen, Thunderstox, Double-O Race, R.A.Y.S., and a 75-lap Enduro followed by and after race party in the Exhibition Building.
A new event will highlight Friday, Oktober 5th’s racing action as the Wisconsin Late Models will be competing in the Dick Trickle “99” feature event. This event will be broken into three 33-lap segments with each driver obtaining points in each segment. The driver who finishes first in each segment will receive one point, second will get two and so forth. At the end of the third segment, the driver with the least amount of points will be declared the winner. This idea follows the famous “Milk Bowl” at Tom Curley’s ThunderRoad Speedway in Barre, VT. And the best part about this event is that Dick Trickle, himself, will be competing in it. Fridays event will be run on current ASA Midwest Tour Super Late Model rules.
The Area Sportsmen and the NEW Super Sportsmen division will also be competing that night. The racing action will get underway at 5:00 p.m. followed by an after race party in the Exhibition Building.
The ASA Late Model Series North Division will highlight Saturday, Oktober 6th’s racing action with a 100-lap feature event. Plus, the ASA Midwest Tour will have their preliminary events and the Mid-American Series will be competing in a 35-lap feature. And don’t forget, the famous After Race Party in the Exhibition Building. The racing will get underway at 4:00 p.m.
Sunday, Oktober 7th will feature the Inaugural 100-lap feature event for the ASA Midwest Tour. The La Crosse Late Models, USST North Truck Series, and Modifieds will also be in action. The racing action will start at High Noon. But, make your plans to arrive early and take part in the On Track Fan/Driver Photo & Autograph Session starting at 9:15 am.
You can download the 14-page Oktoberfest Flyer at www.lacrossespeedway.com. In the flyer, you will find the answers to all of your questions as you make your plans to be a part of this great racing weekend.
