Fredrickson Looks To Carry Momentum As ASA Midwest Tour Prepares To Visit Shakopee’s Raceway Park

By Dean Reller
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (August 10, 2007) - Dan Fredrickson has been on a hot streak the last few races and he looks for that to continue as the Lakeville, MN driver readies for the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment event at Raceway Park in Shakopee, MN. The Shakopee 100, Presented by Prairie Lawn and Garden will take to the track on Sunday August 12th with Fredrickson leading the list of top Minnesota drivers that will be hosting the top drivers from throughout the Midwest.

Fredrickson has tasted success in the past at Raceway Park and after chasing races in neighboring states, he gets a chance to race close to home. "It’s a tight short little track, you get a lot of little bumps and rubber on the doors here and there, it’s kind of a nitty-gritty deal and it’s cool," said Fredrickson. "It should be a good show for the fans, we had a couple good runs the last few times that we have been there and we hope to do good there again."

Fredrickson has been one of best runners in the last month of action for the ASA Midwest Tour. After winning the non-points event at LaCrosse, he finished second at I-94 Raceway and won at Grundy County Speedway. In the most recent race at Wisconsin International Raceway, Fredrickson led a good portion of the race, before Kyle Busch got by late in the going, knocking him back to a second-place finish. Despite missing one race, Fredrickson is currently ninth in the point standings behind Nathan Haseleu, who took the points lead with his third-place run at Wisconsin International Raceway.

Getting around the ¼ mile Raceway Park track will be a challenge for many of the competitors that will be making their first ever trip to the track. "It’s two tight corners with two drag strips," described Fredrickson. "You gotta have a lot of motor there and you gotta turn really tight. It’s kind of like a click deal. You get down to one end, turn, drag race, turn, it’s not like an oval, like LaCrosse, it’s a paper clip type race track."

Fredrickson isn’t the only one with many laps on the track, Donny Reuvers and Jake Ryan battle nearly every week and they might have an advantage as well. "It will be fun to race against those guys," said Fredrickson. "It will be fun for the guys that haven’t been there before too."

In addition to the ASA Midwest Tour events, the Raceway Park Hobby Stocks and Figure 8’s will be participating in the race program as well. Spectator gates open at 3 PM, with ASA Midwest Tour Qualifying set to begin at 4 PM. A driver autograph session is slated for 5 PM, with the first green flag of the night set to wave promptly at 6 PM.
