KYLE BUSCH HOPES TO REPEAT AT WIR

By: Kevin Ramsell
Friday, August 03, 2007 (Daytona Beach, FL) – Back on Thursday, July 19th, Kyle Busch took advantage of Wisconsin International Raceway’s Thursday night racing program to prepare for the ASA Midwest Tour’s Factory Motor Parts 150 on Tuesday, August 7th. He left that night taking home a feature win.

Not only did he take home the feature win, but he also came close to breaking Andy Monday’s track record in qualifying, only to come up .039 seconds short.

“The biggest thing I’m looking forward to is to be going up there to have fun, bring the car up there and run the Tuesday night show with the ASA Midwest Tour,” Busch recently stated. “We had a great run when we were there, learned some new things that we can hopefully bring back and have another decent run and hopefully race well with all of these guys.”

During that week, Busch competed at the Slinger Nationals, WIR and made his debut in the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment event at Madison International Speedway where he drove home to a sixth place finish.

Busch is familiar with the American Speed Association as he competed during their 2001 racing season, and he likes the new series. “The old national tour was on a bigger playing field with the cars, the equipment, and everybody that was out there,” Busch commented. “This is a great deal here; it brings a lot of the local teams in as well as the touring series teams. So it’s definitely a lot of fun to see the different faces, the different equipment and things like that, its always fun.”

Another thing that Busch appreciated was the fans he met and the competition he met when in the pits, “The fans are great and all of these racers have been real friendly, so it will be cool to come back on Tuesday.”

“I was very impressed at Kyle’s willingness to do whatever we asked of him. We included him in a media session, a VIP dinner outing, radio interviews, and a lot of things that can be time consuming. He was here to have fun and relax but when it came time to help us out he was right there for us. He’s a really nice kid and I was very excited to hear all of the cheers from the fans at MIS on July 20th,” stated Series VP Steve Einhaus.

Busch will be competing along with other NASCAR stars Ron Hornaday Jr., Ken Schrader, Dick Trickle, and Rich Bickle Jr. along with the ASAMT Touring Stars and competitors this upcoming Tuesday night at WIR.

Advance tickets and VIP packages are on sale now through the ASA Midwest Tour’s website at www.asamidwesttour.com.

Joining the ASA Midwest Tour will be the Big 8 Series. Fans will have the opportunity to see the best Super Late Model drivers compete in a 150-lap event along with the best Limited Late Model drivers compete in a 38-lap feature event all in one night.

Qualifying will begin at 4:30 pm. Autograph session at 5:45 p.m. and the racing action will get underway at 7:00 p.m.

Wisconsin International Raceway is located on Highway KK just east of Highway 55 in Kaukauna, WI.
