(Wednesday, January 20, 2010) Steve Carlson will be crowned the 2009 American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and Grandstay® Residential Suites Hotels Champion this Saturday, January 23rd, at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells, WI. The celebration kicks off Friday afternoon as teams and their families are invited to come early to enjoy all that the Chula Vista Resort has to offer.

Steve Einhaus, Vice President of the ASAMT is really looking forward to the event. “This is my favorite event of the season. This weekend is a time of celebration and camaraderie with all of our teams, our officials, the families and our sponsors. We have over $60,000 in awards and prizes to give to our teams and will be honoring a true Champion, a Rookie of the Year, and all of the teams that raced their hearts out in 2009.”

Friday night will be an early bird celebration for those coming in a day early with their families. Check-in time is 4:00PM; however rooms may be available sooner. Please check with the front desk to find out if your room is available for an earlier check-in time. Regardless of when rooms become available, guests may begin using the waterpark as early as 12:00PM.

Teams spent countless hours in the shop fine tuning their cars and now we can showcase what they have achieved. The Chula Vista Resort has an 80,000 sq ft multi-level indoor water park. Guests can experience the fastest indoor water coaster, the Flyan Myan or the thrill of the all new 48 feet high and 268 feet long, Cyclone Extreme Waterslide. The Cyclone is the tallest in North America. Will ASAMT drivers be able to handle the G forces of this extreme ride? For those with children, Chula Vista offers a huge interactive play area and the Lava Lagoon activity pool.

If the water park is not enough, guests can be thrilled at Jeremy Allen’s Grand Illusions Show. This is not your average illusion experience. Jeremy Allen will take you into the Mayan Ruins rainforest including a jungle mist providing the atmosphere of an overgrown jungle. Cocktail hour and hors d’oeuvres, sponsored by Grandstay.net will get underway Saturday at 5:00PM. Rod Lindquist, CEO of Grandstay Residential Suites Hotels, the ASA Midwest Tour’s new presenting series sponsor, will be on hand to meet and greet drivers and their teams. Dinner will start at 6:00PM followed by the Awards presentation. This event is semi-formal requiring a tie--no jeans please. It’s not too late to join the celebration. Over $60,000 in awards and prizes will be awarded during the event. 2009 Series Champion, Steve Carlson will receive a check for $6000 and over $4000 in additional awards. Rookie of the Year, Jacob Goede will receive a Roltek Transmission valued at $5000 plus an additional $3000 in awards. In addition to other awards and prizes, the Larry Detjens Sportsman Award will be presented and the NEW 2010 Touring Star roster will be announced.
