RACE FOR THE GOLD CHAMPIONSHIP TO BE DECIDED ON SATURDAY

Steve Holzhausen will be competing at Elko Speedway for the first time in over 20 years this Saturday. Holzhausen currently has 276 points after the first two races and has a 27-point lead over current ASAMT point leader Nathan Haseleu and a 32-point lead over Dan Fredrickson. Bronze winner Steve Carlson is in fourth only 36 points behind the leader. Jeff Kendall rounds out the top-five only 54 points back.

The overall champion will receive $4,000 in pure gold.

TIGHT POINTS BATTLE FOR THE ASAMT CHAMPIONSHIP WITH TWO EVENTS TO GO

The Race for the Gold 125 at Elko Speedway is the second to last event on the 2009 American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment. The championship will be decided on Sunday, October 11th at Oktoberfest at La Crosse Speedway in West Salem, WI.

Nathan Haseleu currently holds a 61-point lead over Steve Carlson in the standings. Chris Wimmer is third only 137 points back with Tim Schendel in fourth only 194 points behind. Jonathan Eilen rounds out the top-five only 240 points back.

Congratulations to current ASAMT Point Leader Nathan Haseleu and his wife Jessica on the birth of their new baby girl Leyton Renee. She was born on Saturday, September 19th weighing in at 7 lbs, 3oz. and is 23 inches long. Both mom and the baby are home and doing well. Rumor has it that older brother Coy is excited to have a little sister.

The first ASAMT practice is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. with the second at 1:30 p.m. ASAMT ECHO/Oregon Cutting Systems “Quick Cut” Qualifying begins at 4:00 p.m. with the popular autograph session starting at 5:30 p.m. Local divisions begin racing at 5:00 p.m. with ASAMT racing starting at 6:00 p.m.

Admission prices are $18 for adult general admission, $20 Reserved; $5.00 for ages 5-12 and ages 4 and under is FREE.
