From the Tim Schendel Pits... SCHENDEL READY FOR ELKO THIS WEEKEND The second to last race of the ASA Midwest Tour season has Schendel hoping for first season win

Sparta, WI, September 24 2009 -- ASA Midwest Tour driver and Sparta, WI native Tim Schendel will be in Elko, MN on Saturday, September 26 for the running of the “Race for the Gold - Gold Event.” This will be the third race of a three race series run this summer with the overall leader in points receiving $4,000 in gold. This is also the second to the last race on the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment Super Late Model Series schedule.

Although Schendel is not vying for the gold due to poor finishes in the prior two series races at the Dells Raceway, he still has his sights set on his first season win. “The gold doesnʼt mean anything to me because I didnʼt run well in the previous two races” Schendel said “But, I really want to end this season with a win under my belt and I think the #21 TexPar Energy is on the right track to do that this weekend.”

Schendel and the rest of the Iron Eagle Racing team did some testing over the two week break from ASA Midwest Tour racing schedule, They were impressed with the carʼs handling and practice runs. “I really think we might have the car to win it this weekend.” team owner Ron Schendel said after the test. “Tim and the guys have been working hard on the car trying to get it in top form and I am hopeful they have the kinks worked out for the last two races of the season.”

Schendel currently sits in fourth place in overall standings in the ASA Midwest Tour. He is 57 points behind third place. Nathan Haseleu has the lead followed by Steve Carlson and Chris Wimmer.
