RACE FOR THE GOLD – SILVER RACE WRAP-UP NOTES

BURLINGTON, WI (Monday, July 20, 2009) – Frank Kreyer became the 14th different winner in 32 events of the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment this past Saturday night at Dells Raceway Park, an ASA Member Track, in Wisconsin Dells, WI. He joins Chris Wimmer as the only two drivers to collect their first ASAMT win this season.

THE KREYER FILE

Coming into the recent event, Kreyer has competed in 16 ASAMT events where he made the feature field 12 times with only two top-ten finishes. Prior to racing in the ASAMT, he made four starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series and two in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and competed in several super late model events in the Midwest.

His primary sponsors include Culvers Frozen Custard and lemonstop.com. He is from Pardeeville, WI.

RACE FOR THE GOLD STANDINGS

After two events, Steve Holzhausen sits at the top of the Race for the Gold standings with 276 points. Current ASAMT point leader Nathan Haseleu is second with 249 points and Dan Fredrickson is in third with 244 points. Steve Carlson is in fourth with 240 points with Jeff Kendall rounding out the top-five with 222 points.

The point totals are based on the amount of points each driver has received at each event which includes qualifying, heat, and feature points.

HASELEU EXTENDS POINTS LEAD

Nathan Haseleu gained 36 points this past Saturday night to give him an 86 point lead over Steve Carlson in the standings. Haseleu recorded his fifth top-five of the season with his fourth place run on Saturday night.

Chris Wimmer is in third 142 points back with Dan Fredrickson in fourth only 147 points back. Tim Schendel rounds out the top-five only 155 points back.

HARD CHARGER BATTLE TIGHTENS UP

The battle for the Lefthander Chassis Hard Charger Award tightened up this past Saturday night. Nick Murgic gained five spots to increase his lead to 64 points. But it was Nathan Haseleu who gained the most spots this past Saturday night as he gained 14 spots after starting 18th and finishing 4th.

Kyle Calmes gained 11 spots after he started 25th and finished 14th. This moved him up to third in the standings with 40 points.

Another hard charger in the Race for the Gold – Silver Race was Bryan Reffner. He also gained 11 spots in the feature event as he finished 12th after starting 23rd.

LOOKING AHEAD

The ASAMT’s next event will be on Tuesday, August 4th with the running of the 28th Annual Dixieland 150 presented by Gandrud Chevrolet. Joining the ASAMT Touring Stars will be 2007 Daytona 500 champion Kevin Harvick and current NASCAR Camping World Truck Series point leader Ron Hornaday, Jr.

The Big 8 Series will also be in action on Tuesday night. Last year, the fans were treated to an exciting finish as Jeremy Miller held off Ross Kenseth for the win.

ASAMT ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment/Oregon Cutting Systems “Quick Cut” Qualifying will get underway at 4:30 p.m. with the autograph session scheduled to begin at 5:45 p.m. Racing gets underway at 7:00 p.m.
