GOEDE LOOKING FOR BETTER RESULTS AT DRP THIS SATURDAY

By: Kevin Ramsell
BURLINGTON, WI (Wednesday, July 15, 2009) – He is the leading Lane Automotive Rookie of the Year Contender, he sits eighth in points, has one win, two top-five and three top-ten finishes so far this season. For many drivers, you cannot complain about having that record at the start of the season. But, Jacob Goede did have one bad night in May and he is optimistic on a better result this Saturday night as the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment makes its second of three visits to Dells Raceway Park, an ASA Member Track, this season.

Back on May 30th, Goede qualified 25th out of the 42 competitors, only missing the feature field on his qualifying time by only 0.084 seconds. In the last chance race, he was running third when Andy Monday and Jonathan Eilen were battling for the lead on lap 6 and got together. Goede was a victim as he went over Eilen’s car and made hard contact with the frontstretch wall. He was done for the night and had to take his damaged Super Late Model back to his New Germany, MN home and replace the right front clip on the chassis.

But that made the 24-year-old more determined and he proved it at the next event as he took home his first win of the season by capturing the 8th Annual Elmer Musgrave Memorial 100 at Illiana Speedway on Saturday, June 20th.

He is actually looking forward to returning to Dells Raceway Park this Saturday night for the Race for the Gold – Silver Race, “Looking forward to going back to Dells, even though we didn’t make the race and destroyed the car, I actually didn’t think my car would have raced that bad, so I think I have something to build off,” Goede stated. “I’m actually excited to try some different things this weekend, hopefully get this car back on track!”

One thing that Goede found after his wreck was the support he received from his fellow competitors and the ASAMT, “This is a tough series! The part I like the most is I can enjoy going to the races. Everyone involved in the series, from the officials to other competitors are fun to be around and willing to help a person out when in need,” Goede explained. “When I did wreck the car at the Dells, Tim (Olson, ASAMT President) called me and asked if I needed anything. I never had a local track owner or another series do that.”

It would not be a surprise if his hard work and determination pays off for him this weekend as he has that hard work ethic in his blood. A graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Minnesota State University, Goede graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.77 and today works at MTS Systems in Eden Prairie, MN. MTS has produced a majority of the “seven post shaker rigs” that many top NASCAR teams use today.

The seventh event for the ASAMT will be on Saturday, July 18th for the Race for the Gold – Silver Race at Dells Raceway Park in Wisconsin Dells, WI. The ASAMT Super Late Models will be competing in a 125-lap feature event that will feature a break at lap 75.

Joining the ASAMT will be the DRP Limited Late Models who will be competing in a 40-lap feature event that will pay $750 to win and $140 to start. The DRP Pure Stocks will also be in action.

Qualifying is at 4:30 p.m. with the popular autograph session at 5:30 p.m. Racing will get underway at 6:30 p.m.
