From the Tim Schendel Pits... TOP TEN FINISH FOR SCHENDEL IN THE ASA MIDWEST TOUR SERIES Schendel qualifies fifteenth and ends the race in sixth place

Sparta, WI, July 6, 2009 -- ASA Midwest Tour driver and Sparta, WI native Tim Schendel recorded another top ten finish on Friday, July 3 in the “37th Annual Keith Fleck Miller 100” at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, IA. Schendel finished in sixth place to record his fifth top ten finish this season.

Schendel qualified the #21 TexPar Energy Chevrolet in fifteenth place. After qualifying, he won his fast dash race where he started second. He started the 100-lap feature race in fifteenth and slowly made his way through traffic. The race saw five caution flags flown, testing Schendelʼs restart abilities. He was able to maintain his positions and ended in sixth.

“The #21 TexPar Energy Chevrolet was a good car tonite. I thought we wouldʼve qualified better but we kind of redeemed ourselves when we won the fast dash race.” Schendel said after the race. “We got the motor issues we experienced in the past few races fixed and I have to hand it to the guys who help me each week for that. I just wish we could win one of these races and let our hard work pay off!”

The car handled good throughout the race. “We did become a little loose towards the
end and after going through traffic, the tires got pretty worn. But all in all, we did the
best we could considering our qualifying place and the restarts.” Schendel stated.
Not only did Schendel race against the tough competition of the ASA Midwest Tour
regular drivers, but also Ron Hornaday, Jr., the Camping World Truck Series point
leader. Hornaday finished 18th. West Salemʼs Steve Carlson came home with the
victory followed by Mark Knaus and Nathan Haseleu. Schendel remains in fifth place in
overall series points, only seven points from fourth and nine points outside of third
place.

The ASA Midwest Tourʼs next stop is at the Dells Raceway Park in Wisconsin Dells for the “Race for the Gold Silver” - the second of three races to be run in the Dells -- on Saturday, July 18.
