Wausua, WI – Chris Wimmer heads to Gresham Motorsports Park to compete in the World Crown 300 for the first time ever. “I’m really excited to race down there,” says Wimmer, “The World Crown is one of the biggest Super Late Model races of the year and I’ve always wanted to go.”
Located in Georgia, Gresham Motorsports Park is a half mile track that has been newly renovated in recent years. “It’s always difficult to go to a track where you have never raced before,” says Wimmer, “I know a few guys who have raced there before so I’ve been talking to them about what it is like and what type of set-up to run.”
The 200-lap event is broken up in to three segments. The first segment is 100-laps, the second 75-laps, and the third a 25-lap shootout to the finish. “It’s definitely a different deal,” says Wimmer, “But it also makes it exciting for the drivers and the fans. It’s always fun to do something different. Hopefully we can have a car capable of competing for a segment win.”
Wimmer qualified 13th for the World Crown 300 on Friday and on Saturday was second on the chart in final practice. “My car feels pretty good,” says Wimmer, “There’s a lot of guys who race this track a lot, so they have a better idea of how the track will change during the throughout the race, hopefully my car will stay consistent.”
The 200 lap race starts at 2pm on Sunday, November 13th. Speed51 will provide live updates throughout the weekend on their website Speed51.com
