DAN FREDRICKSON TEAMS UP WITH FARM BOY BBQ FOR SNOWBALL DERBY

by Team PR
November 7, 2010 - Local stock car driver and ASA Midwest Tour Swiss Colony Touring Star, Dan Fredrickson of Lakeville, MN has just spiced up his race team. Dan has secured a deal with Farm Boy BBQ out of Iowa for a sponsorship chance of a lifetime. The 53rd Annual Snowball Derby takes place at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida, from December 1st-5th, 2010. It is the “Superbowl” of short track racing. The event, historically dominated by Southerners, will get a challenge this year from the Midwest.

Q: First off Dan, Who is Farm Boy BBQ?

Dan: “Iowa farmer, Joe Rosenberg has a BBQ team that travels all over the country competing in BBQ competitions. After tasting his competition sauce on a pulled pork sandwich, his friend and partner, Jon Koster said, ‘We need to bottle this stuff and get it out there for people to enjoy.’ The very next time Joe entered a contest, the sauce placed second out of 70 entries. This is the same sauce Joe uses in competitions and is terrific on pork and chicken. Joe and Jon have both been very supportive of the racing community over the years. Being a small Midwest company with ties to grass roots racing, it is a perfect fit for Farm Boy BBQ to represent my race team at the Snowball Derby.”

Q: We are told that Farm Boy BBQ is on-board as your main sponsor for the Snowball Derby coming up in December in Florida. For those who haven’t been to Snowball, what kind of excitement does that bring to your team?

Dan: “Snowball Derby is one of those events that I have always wanted to go to. I had the chance to go down a few years back and help Donald and Johanna Long. Since then, I have been wanting to be there with my own car. Until now, we have been unable to find a sponsor that could help us get there. We can’t wait!”

Q: Why all the buzz about the Dan Fredrickson t-shirt/BBQ sauce combo sales?

Dan: “The guys at Farm Boy BBQ put together this great package deal. It consists of a limited edition Dan Fredrickson racing t-shirt and a bottle of their BBQ sauce. It’s a really good deal, because for the price of the t-shirt and shipping, they are basically throwing in the BBQ sauce for free. $25 gets you the whole deal, and that includes shipping.”

“Sponsors have been tough to get lately and I’m trying to show that motor sports marketing still works. It’s a direct way to show that drivers and fans are still completely loyal to the sponsors that help make the sport what it is.”
“With this promotion, I hope that our sponsors can see instant success and that it still pays to sponsor local racers.”

Q: Are there other sponsors who are helping you get to the Snowball Derby?
Dan: “Yes. DirectPex.com is an online plumbing/fitting store that has come on board to help out as well. We are still hoping to find another three or four associate sponsors to help us make the budget needed to be competitive at Snowball.”

Q: What are your goals for this new sponsorship relationship with Farm Boy BBQ?

Dan: “Well, we are hoping that race fans will help us hit our goal of 500 t-shirt/BBQ combo sales. The combo will only be available for a limited time, maybe only a week. I’m hoping there are enough people out there that are looking to get their hands on a good looking t-shirt and like a good deal. It is like you get the BBQ sauce for free. Order your combo at www.farmboybbq.com.”
