Seventh in a series of 10

(Wednesday, March 24, 2010) The American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and Grandstay.net Touring Star Tim Schendel finished out the 2009 season fourth in the final point standings.
The 2006 NASCAR Elite Division Midwest Series and All-Star Showdown Champion started all 12 events in 2009 claiming three top-five and six top-ten finishes. After a ninth place finish at the season opener Joe Shear Classic, the ASAMT headed to a track favorite for Schendel.
Schendel collected his only ECHO/Oregon Cutting Systems “Quick Cut” Qualifier Award of the season at Iowa Speedway; a track Schendel claimed victory at in 2008. In 2009 Schendel once again dominated the Pride of Iowa 100 only to fall short, after a side-by-side battle with Jonathan Eilen, to ASAMT Touring Star Chris Wimmer in the closing laps.
The driver of the #21 TexPar Energy, LLC sponsored Chevrolet followed up his best finish of the season with another top 10 in the Elko 125 at Elko Speedway in Minnesota. The remainder of the 2009 season was one of ups and downs for the Iron Eagle Racing Team. Schendel finished out the 2009 season claiming three more top ten finishes that included a sixth place finish in the Keith Fleck Memorial at Hawkeye Downs, and two fifth place finishes at both Wisconsin International Raceway in the Dixieland 150 and the Labor Day 100 in Norway, MI.
Schendel was hopeful heading into the 40th annual Oktoberfest to finish out the season with a solid run. Unfortunately a poor qualifying position and battling a loose race car throughout the race landed the #21 Hamke chassis a 17th place finish to close out the season. Despite a disappointing season overall, Schendel was satisfied with a fourth place finish in the final point standings in 2009 and will return to the ASA Midwest Tour as a 2010 Touring Star.
