2009 TOP TEN COUNTDOWN 6th PLACE-DAN FREDRICKSON

Fifth in a series of 10

By: Kari Shear-Carlson, ASA Midwest Tour PR
(Sunday, March 7, 2010) The American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and Grandstay® Residential Suites Hotels had some of the fiercest competition of any regional racing series in 2009. The 2008 Champion and Touring Star, Dan Fredrickson was proof of that.

Finishing sixth in the final point standings, Fredrickson was a contender at every track he competed at. The driver of the DF Squared, B & B Racing Engines powered Monte Carlo competed in 11 out of 12 events, picked up one ECHO/Oregon Cutting Systems “Quick Cut” Qualifier Award, six top 10 and three top five finishes.

Two of his top five finishes came as no surprise as the 2003 Elko Speedway Champion claimed third place in the first race at his home track. The final race in the “Race for the Gold” series changed venues from Dells Raceway Park to Elko Speedway. The Richard Elander, Brothers Jorgenson Race Parts sponsored car started on the front row and Dan was able to hold off a very hard charging Touring Star Chris Wimmer, capturing his only win of the season and eighth overall ASAMT victory since 2007.

The 2007 and 2008 Oktoberfest Champion hoped that his Elko victory would carry momentum heading into Oktoberfest, aspiring to join the only other driver to capture three consecutive Oktoberfest victories. That driver was also the driver of#36; the late great Joe Shear. Unfortunately the Lakeville, MN driver fell short of joining this elite club of one, finishing seventh in the final event of the season.

The Fredrickson Enterprises, Turtles Bar, Bruce Halverson Used Cars sponsored driver was one of eight drivers to claim victory in 2009. Fans and competitors should not expect any less from the 2004 Minnesota State Champion in 2010.
